In his hands he holds the open end of a cotton sack, and wherever he points the mouth of the sack, the wind blows in that direction. Feng Po's intention cannot be seen, only felt. This is the aim of Feng Shou.Feng Shou is an internal or ?soft? and flowing martial art that is based upon daoist, yin yang theory. It utilises an attackers speed, force and aggression against themselves. The use of the word 'soft' often gives westerners the wrong impression, Feng Shou teaches the use of Nei Chi internal power instead of muscular strength, and teaches the use of yielding (softness) when being attacked so you can maniplulate your attackers balance and create an opening for an explosive counter attack.As Feng Shou Kung Fu originates from Wei Hei in central China it has blended the best of Northern Kung Fu and Southern Kung Fu techniques. The extensive paddy fields of Southern China made kicking difficult as you were up to your knees in mud and water or on board a boat. For this reason southern kung fu styles relied heavily developing upper body techniques.Kung fu styles in Northern China used the feet and legs to a greater extent either up in the mountains or against riders on horse back. Chi shu or shuai jiao is an extension of the kung fu and uses locks, throws and grappling. It incorporates ground fighting and shares similarities with the more modern Japanese arts of Aikido and Judo.
